Ronnie Miller, age 70, passed away December 3, 2018. Ronnie was born in Conroe, Texas. He graduated high school in Odessa, Texas in 1966. Ronnie enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967 and served four tours of duty aboard the USS Ranger Aircraft Carrier stationed in the Bay of Tonkin during the Vietnam conflict. In Nov, 1971, Ronnie received an honorable and distinguished discharge from the Navy.
Upon completing his service obligations, Ron spent the next 30 years of his work career employed as a computer specialist and programmer with responsibility for over seeing the West Coast Payroll Program for AT&T. Ronnie retired in 2001. He worked for Target for three years and thereafter, was employed as a jailer until 2014 for the Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex in San Jose, California.
Ronnie relocated to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 2015 to assist in the care of his mother, and to reignite his relations with his uncle and aunt, Dick & Patti Freeman. Ronnie suffered a massive stroke in March, 2016, leaving him completely paralyzed on his left side. He then lived in the care of Susie & Roger Reid’s Abundant Life Private Care Home until November 5, 2018. He was then travsferred to a private care home located in Hot Springs Village where he spent his remaining days in the loving and attentive care of his care taker, Cathrine Ramsey.
Ron was a 6”4” giant of a man with a heart of gold. He was good naturted and slow to anger, with a rye sense of humor that would keep everyone off guard until they were rolling in laughter about what he had just said.
Ronnie is pre-deceased by both sets of grandparents and his dad, Floyd W. Miller, and his two younger brothers, Michael and Bobbie Miller.
Ronnie is survived by his 89 year old mother, Wanda Miller of HSV and his uncle Dick & aunt Patti Freeman of HSV, and wife of 38 years, Vida Miller and step-sons, Raven and Timothy Bill of San Jose, California.
Ronnie’s memorial service will be performed at the Hot Springs Village, CedarVale Funeral Home located at 200 Minorca Way, on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm, with the burial to follow at the CedarVale Cemetery.
